One of the Tri-State's growing manufacturer's is adding a talented Controller to help with strategy as the company doubles in size over the next two years. JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for reporting, analyzing, and interpreting the financial performance of the company and identifying strategies to improve operational and financial performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads, develops, and trains the accounting staff to accurately and efficiently execute the responsibilities necessary to complete and produce financial and operational reports.
  • Provides regular performance feedback to staff and identifies development needs and training plans.
  • Leads the financial due diligence process for acquisitions and expansion into new markets. Provides financial analysis of new business opportunities and assists with vetting the underlying assumptions and viability of prospective business models.
  • Analyzes operational and financial data, identifying trends impacting financial performance. Works with other Executives to identify and implement strategies that achieve desired financial performance.
  • Develops budgets and financial models to evaluate different strategies, capital investments, and operational plans to identify the best options.
  • Ensures the company’s financial policies are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all financial reporting accurately reflects the condition of the business and provides reliable information necessary to control operations.
  • Leads the research and implementation of strategies that minimize tax obligations of the business.
  • Manages third party banking, investment, IT, and tax relationships.
  • Ensures the company’s financial policies are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all financial reporting accurately reflects the condition of the business and provides reliable information necessary to control operations.
  • Coordinates month end and year end closing reports and audits, financial reporting packages, sales and general ledger information, cash flow records, check registers and account reconciliation.
  • Oversees the company's financial activities and ensures the accurate and timely dissemination of internal management reports.
  • Prepares financial reporting, covenant calculations, business analytics, and related documentation to look at the financial impact of capital investments.
  • Leads the development of pricing strategies, identifies cost centers, and develops solutions to issues impacting financial results.
  • Manages the company’s cash flow to minimize cost of borrowing and comply with the company’s bank covenants and agreed-upon terms.
  • Approves and communicates existing credit lines with customers and facilitates new customer credit terms.
  • Reviews and analyzes credit applications; ensures the completion of reference checks to determine appropriate credit terms and conditions.
  • Assists in preparation of customer invoices and compilation of supporting documentation to ensure accurate invoicing and resolves related issues and discrepancies.
  • Forecasts and manages the billing and accounts receivable process and daily cash flow.
  • Oversees the timely and accurate completion of all related reporting; monitors collection activities of all past due receivables; reviews daily cash deposits and reconciles daily cash report. Manages acceleration of cash receipts and collection of delinquent accounts.
  • Manages accounts payable; ensures accurate and timely processing and disbursing of vendor payments. Controls petty cash and core employee expense reports.
  • Reviews vendor agreements and ensures payments are in accordance with company policy and agreed upon terms.
  • Organizes, directs, and evaluates the organization’s administrative functions and performance; develops and implements policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation. This includes information flow, the use of technology, and the assessment of various activities and functions.
  • Establishes and maintains controls which verify the integrity of all financial systems, processes and data, recommending and implementing standardized process improvements and process documentation.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of internal control systems to manage risk, liability and compliance of financial practices.
  • Ensures the financial integrity of the inventory management system and the reliability of the data and information reporting.
  • Manages physical inventory including valuation and cost analysis of slow-moving inventory and obsolescence allowance.
  • Manages internal payroll processing, ensuring all employee hours, holidays, vacations, insurance deductions, 401K contributions and garnishments are accurate. Reviews reporting from payroll system to verify data is up to date and accurate.
  • In collaboration with HR Manager, establishes pay bands and salaries for various roles in alignment with annual operating budget. Serves as the administrator for the company’s 401K plan and works with HR Manager to resolve related issues.
  • Provides cost reporting and analysis for company benefits and participates in negotiations for benefits and other insurance policies.

HIRING PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Finance or Accounting
  • 8-10 years related work experience
  • Experience with diverse set of financial reporting systems and tools. Demonstrated past success implementing new systems or tools to enhance the performance of the function
  • Ability to balance technical accounting skills with creative solutions in order to achieve business outcomes. Demonstrated success in creating and implementing process improvements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
